Gurtie's Guides VII - Rotten Springs

Gurtie's Guides Vol VII - Rotten Springs is a TTRPG micro-setting for a hot spring deep in the desert powered by the ruined technology of an ancient civilization.

Rotten Springs was created for the Tiny World TTRPG Jam. I'm gonna be dropping it into the Frontier Scum campaign I just started, and I'd love to hear about where you use it, or what it inspires for you!

This zine was hand-drawn with Pilot Iroshizuku Ina-ho Ink (Rice Ear), which is unfortunately no longer in production. I hope you enjoy this tribute to my favorite ink.

The PDF noted "screen" is formatted for reading on a digital device, while the two "print" pdfs are formatted for printing and folding into an 8-page zine. I recommend printing in color if you can, but if not, I have included a BW version. I added a 1-page dungeon for the Zungeon Jam 2025. (Note to my Frontier Scum players, don't peek at the zungeon). This is a companion file to Gurtie's Guide, and is meant to be used in combination with the player-facing/diegetic zine Gurtie's Guide!

May 7, 2025: Review and boot devil .stl!

Nova wrote some nice things about the zungeon at Playful Void. The Zungeon Jam is very cool and you should totally make a zungeon for it!

Also, Garth, one of my fabulous Frontier Scum players, made an .stl of a boot devil, and another player printed one out, and it's our new campaign mascot. The .stl is on itch so you too can print your own boot devil!
